One Day Church

One Day Church Sponsored by ICHandsSo what is this One Day Church?

The One Day Church concept originated with Mr. McNeilus. McNeilus wanted to develop a church that could be built in one day in areas of the world where peple did not have a place to worship. He designed a church that could be made at his plant in Minnesota and shipped all around the world. The church is a steel building with a roof that can be erected in one day. It is strong enough to withstand hurricane and storms. The members of the local church who will be using the church will finish the walls and floors with whatever material they have at their disposal.

Marantha is largely a volunteer organization that is involved with humanitarian work around the world. Marantha is currently involved with erecting the One Day Churches. They coordinate the sites where the churches are to be built and have the infrastrcture and expertise to assist in the building of the churches.

Plans for the future!

International Caring Hands is currently organizing three trips to build One Day Churches. These trips will take place in March of 2011, 2012 and 2013. Thirty seven churches have been purchased for the trip to Malawi and commitments have been made to purchase thirty seven MORE churches for each of the trips in March of 2012 and 2013!

Laurelwood Academy has been invited to help build the One Day Churches in Malawi. Students from Laurelwood Academy have the opportunity to join a mission trip every year. These students have to raise all the funds required to cover airfare, transportation, food and lodging. International Caring Hands has invited up to ten students to join our effort. If you would like to hep the sponsor one of these students, please specify when clicking the "Donate" button

Come and join us!

The current trip to Malawi in March of 2010, was filled with commitments from adults wishing to go to assist churches and guiding the Laurelwood students, within two weeks. If you would like to be considered as an alternative, please inform us of your interest. International Caring Hands is organizing a planning meeting at Big Lake in February of 2011 to finalize plans for the Malawi trip and discuss options for the coming two years. Those who are interested in joining our team in the coming three years are encouraged to RSVP so that accomodations can be made. The destinations for building One Day Churches in 2012 and 2013 have not yet been determined.
